LMG builds Up-Acting compression presses from 5 tons to 3200 tons.

LMG Up-Acting presses round tie rod presses have been an industry work horse for over 70 years. They have been used in many applications including rubber, SMC, BMC, Phenolic, thermoset and thermoplastic composite materials and others. The robust design provides for many years of high quality molding. The LMG control system is user friendly and equipped with velocity and pressure profiling to ensure that you have optimum results. The energy efficient hydraulic systems keep your operating costs at a minimum.
If you don’t see exactly what you are looking for please call us and we will be happy to discuss your application in detail to define the specifications that will produce optimum results for your parts.
LMG’s Conventional presses are built to provide you with the technical features you need for successful molding of your parts. Please see our list of available features that can be incorporated on your press.
200 Ton Press
Two presses are run from the same hydraulic power pack and control system. Both presses have 2 – daylights to double the production capacity. Presses are equipped with heat platens and tie rods have protective boots to prevent damage from abrasive material.
400 Ton Press

Press was built for molding electrical parts from BMC material. It features one main clamping ram for high tonnage. Two jack rams are used for high speed close and break-away tonnage. Press is capable of velocity and pressure profiling to achieve optimum molding results.
500 Ton (Wood flour)

Press was designed and built for molding school desk parts out of wood-flour – melamine material. Several presses are run from a common power pack.
3200 Ton Press

The press was designed for insert molding of very long high voltage bushings. The platen is 22 feet long. The bottom mold half shuttles out every cycle for part unloading and insert loading for the next cycle. The press features a servo controller controlling two servo zones on the press. Without using the tie rods for guiding the Servo system can close the press parallel within 0.005”.
LMG’s robust Paraguide press features 45° gib guided columns provide for tighter parallelism control than can be achieved with a round tie rod press. This design can also reduce deflection that can be caused by slightly off center loads. This type of guiding is a little more costly but has several advantages. Contact area with the column is higher and predictable. When the 45 degree angle is used properly it can help offset most of the thermal growth of the fixed and moving platen. We design our presses so that when the moving platen grows front to back it increases the guiding clearance relative to the cylinder platen which is used by the growth of the left to right dimension to maintain good guiding. This type of guiding is simple to replace and is adjustable so that clearances can be run tight with easy adjustment for wear.
