Our customers have come to us with many different requests that fall outside the scope of the presses that we normally build. We never turn them away if their request is within the realm of our capabilities. Our philosophy is to work with our customers and learn as much as we can about their application and based on our experience come up with technical solutions that meet the objectives of their requirements. The custom press can be as small as one ton and as large as 3200 tons. We have built up-acting, down-acting, horizontal, rotary presses, automated presses and opposing cylinder presses. Control systems can be simple or complex computer controlled presses with SPC data collecting capabilities. All of our presses are designed and built to provide you with many years of successful operation. The customer came to us with a requirement for very tight parallelism control and very fine control of pressure build-up. We designed the press so that the four clamp cylinder rods also act as the tie rods. Each cylinder has a servo valve controlled by one servo controller. During the cycle the position of all four cylinders is communicated to the servo controller. With a scan time of 4 milliseconds the controller adjusts the flow of oil to each cylinder to achieve parallelism within .001” across the surface of the platen. The servo controller also provides very fine control of pressure control so that the pressure can be increased in very small increments.

The customer had a need for four presses for material evaluation. He needed the presses to fit in a small area. So we designed a bank of four presses running off of a common hydraulic power pack. The presses can be run independent of each other. The press is capable of automatic low pressure as low as 5 tons and adjustable pressing speeds.
800 Ton Rotary press

This press was made for Injection / Compression molding of a large thermoset automotive part with an insert. The press features a three tie rod construction and an 8 foot diameter rotary table. The press was interfaced with a large injection unit made by another company.

The press is a down-acting press with a 10 column design built for a customer’s proprietary process.

The press was designed for insert molding of very long high voltage bushings. The platen is 22 feet long. The bottom mold half shuttles out every cycle for part unloading and insert loading for the next cycle. The press features a servo controller controlling two servo zones on the press. Without using the tie rods for guiding the Servo system can close the press parallel within 0.005.” We have also built this same press in a 1600 ton model.
