LMG compression and transfer presses are used to produce a wide variety of parts for the automotive industry. Some examples of automotive parts produced on the LMG presses include Phenolic brake pistons, body panels, seals, transmission control modules, valve covers and fuel cell plates. Press sizes range from 30 tons up to 3000 tons. Our larger presses can be equipped with leveling systems. Our 700 ton Advanced paraguide press was designed and built specifically for molding fuel cell plates. The press is built with a very high degree of parallelism, minimum deflection and ultra high speeds that are required for molding fuel cell plates.
With today’s high fuel prices the Airline companies must increase their fuel efficiency. One way to accomplish is to build the planes using composite materials. LMG compression presses are used to mold light weight high strength composite components that will be used in the interior of the new composite intensive jets being built by the major aircraft builders. The composite parts can significantly reduce the weight of the plan which results in better fuel economy. LMG presses are used in both thermoset and thermoplastic applications.
Over the years LMG has built hundreds of presses for composite applications for molding materials such as carbon filled epoxy, carbon filled PEEK materials, Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic materials, Sheet molding compound, bulk molding compound and highly filled Phenolic materials. LMG composites presses are being successfully used to mold parts as diverse as shower floors, sinks, interior aircraft parts, jet engine parts, brake pistons, automotive under body shields, large electrical circuit breaker parts and many other parts
LMG’s standard line of Advantage & Genesis presses were designed and built for molding high quality electrical and electronic devices. Many different electronic devices such as dips, resistors, capacitors, Ball grid arrays and more are encapsulated in thermoset epoxy material on LMG transfer molding presses. Electrical parts such as insulators, circuit breakers, coils, relays, connectors, switches and many more are successfully molded on LMG transfer presses.

LMG makes two different types of presses used in the Investment Casting Industry. Both presses are designed and built for making cores that are used to make investment cast parts. The Investment casting process consists of making a replica (core) of the desired part in an easy to form material and then to build up a mold around the replica. This mold is called a shell. The replica is removed from the mold before casting.
LMG builds several different types of presses that are used to produce a wide range of parts for the medical industry, the Genesis transfer press, the Sesame Nano Injection press, the Micromolder and the Medimolder.
The servo controlled injection unit delivers a very accurate shot size. There are two models available a 30 ton and a 60 ton with screw sizes ranging from 16mm to 40 mm. Please click here for more info on the Medimolder.
As the price of fuel continues to increase it is in the best interest of automobile manufacturers to consider alternative way to power automobiles. One of the alternative technologies being given serious consideration are fuel cells. Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells generate electricity from hydrogen and oxygen forming water. A high percentage of bipolar plates are molded using BMCI’s conductive BMC 940 product which is a graphite filled vinyl ester. Vinyl ester is a thermoset material.
LMG builds compression molding presses that mold various rubber parts from seals for the automotive industry to very large high voltage insulators. LMG rubber presses range from 75 tons for making small seal all the way up to 3200 tons for molding high voltage insulators. The 450 ton press pictured here is a vacuum press that uses a three plate mold. When the cycle is complete the press opens and the bottom two mold plates shuttle out the front of the press.
LMG compression presses for rubber molding can be customized and or automated to meet the challenges of your application.
LMG has built hundreds of compression presses in the 400 to 700 ton range for molding products such as school desk tops out of wood flour melamine. In many cases a central hydraulic power pack will power several presses. The presses can also be supplied with their own power pack. These presses can be equipped with special programs that are used when applying a foil to be molded on top of the material.
Automation is crucial in today's global economy. Yet, applying technology can be as challenging as the problem it's designed to resolve-if the OEM lacks the internal resources and experience to implement a system that meets your company's objective. At LMG, we don't design products. We develop solutions. What's more, we offer your company advantages you simply won't find anywhere else. More »
